Ceremony locations at The Georgia Terrace Hotel in Atlanta

The Grand Ballroom is over four thousand square feet and has a ceiling height of nineteen feet. Its extraordinary architectural details, Italian crystal chandeliers, Palladian-styled windows, crystal, and Italian bronze chandeliers, and delicate color palette give this Grand Ballroom an atmosphere of timeless elegance and style. Outside the ballroom, a patio opens to Ponce de Leon Avenue and Atlanta's iconic Peachtree Street. With seating for two hundred and twenty of your closest friends, this ballroom is ideal for hosting your unforgettable wedding reception.

Piedmont Ballroom - this ballroom is over twenty-eight hundred square feet and has a ceiling height of eighteen feet. | The second largest ballroom at the Georgia Terrace Hotel is as elegant as its larger cousin, just smaller. It accommodates two hundred of your wedding ceremony guests or 120 of your friends for a plated dinner. The Piedmont Foyer sits adjacent to the ballroom, and many couples use the foyer for their cocktail hour.

Mitchell Ballroom - has over nine hundred square feet of space and an eighteen-foot ceiling. The timeless elegance theme continues in this space. This intimate ballroom is perfect for small ceremonies of up to one hundred persons. In our experience, couples use this ballroom for the ceremony and host their reception in the Piedmont Room and cocktail hour in the Piedmont Foyer.

The Livingstone Restaurant is another of our favorite spaces in this grand hotel on Peachtree. This restaurant on the corner of Peachtree Street and Ponce de Leon Avenue hosts many rehearsal dinners and cocktail hour receptions for weddings in the Grand Ballroom. The two-story turreted corner entrance is a must for photographs on the inside and outside.

Photography Opportunities

Wedding photography at the Georgian Terrace is a blast for any photographer with the pleasure of photographing an event at this historic venue. Let's start at the very top, the rooftop. Imagine you and your new spouse atop the hotel's roof against a backdrop of the cityscape at twilight. How about you getting ready in one of the luxurious penthouse suites, with all that natural light beaming through those oversized windows? Of course, the abundance of beautiful staircases throughout the hotel begs any photographer to add a subject. Then there are the expansive wrap-around columned terraces on the southeast of the building with its ornate planters. The turreted corner entry to the Livingstone Restaurant provides a beautiful backdrop for a portrait. However, the outside but inside of the thirty-five-foot tall glass-enclosed entryway is perfect for a dramatically lit glamorous photograph.

Let's Work on the Details

The wedding planning staff at the Georgia Terrace Hotel will work with you to ensure that your big day goes off without any problems. Their dedication to your every need is refreshing with its abundance of meeting rooms and customized menu options. This hotel may be the perfect wedding venue for your wedding.

History and Features

The Georgian Terrace Hotel opened in 1911; on October 2 that year, patrons from all over the city celebrated the hotel's addition to the town. The Grand Ballroom was at capacity while a costumed Spanish band entertained guests. Since its opening, some of the hotel's more famous guests include Clark Gable, Calvin Coolidge, Walt Disney, and F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Gone with the Wind 1939 premiere was at the Georgian Terrace, with most of the stars staying at the hotel.

The 'Grand Old Lady of Peachtree' has been through many changes over the years and was scheduled for demolition at one point. Its entry into the National Register of Historic Places successfully blocked its demise.

Features | The hotel features classical architectural details, such as turreted corners, floor-to-ceiling Palladian-styled windows, and expansive wrap-around columned terraces.

The facade comprises a two-story high window arcade set under a wide cornice supported on narrow pilasters. Four columns hold up the entrance on the Ponce de Leon Avenue facade.

The hotel's inside was decorated with crystal and Italian bronze chandeliers, white marble columns, ornate pilasters, paneled walls, elliptical staircases, and Italian-tiled floors.
